Direct to plate printing just like digital printing is not yet that long in employed however they have become two of the most sought after printing solutions for printing low quantity of documents especially those project requiring full color printing.

Direct to plate is also referred to as computer to plate printing and shorten traditional printing by removing one step. To cite an example, in traditional offset lithography printing the film is produced on an image setter and afterwards a metal printing plate is created from that. However with direct to plate the film is produced usually from a computer file thus eliminating the need for film.
