There have been a lot of clamor regarding RIP especially in its role in large format printing. RIP stands for Raster Image Processor which is a type of software that takes the image and text then relayed it to the large format printer. The RIP software also tells or directs the printer on where and how to place the squirt of ink on the paper.

Large format rips are used to increase the efficiency of printers. Although it is true that there are printers with built in PostScript RIP but still it requires additional RIP software to increase its printing speed and to make the texts more readable.

There are certain considerations in choosing large format rips and these are as follows:

1. It is very important to take note of the type and model of your printer.

2. If you do not know the appropriate RIP software for your printer make sure that you ask the experts.
